Section 44: Establishment and membership of pilotage boards

1999Section 44 of 128Federal Republic of Nigeria

(1) The Minister, by order-
(a) may, for a pilotage district; and
(b) shall, for a pilotage district in which or in any part of which pilotage is compulsory, establish a pilotage board for the pilotage district.
(2) A pilotage board shall consist of-
(a) the harbour master of the port, as chairman; and
(b) not less than two or more than four persons appointed by the Authority, with the approval of the Minister.
(3) An appointed member of a pilotage board may-
(a) be appointed for a period not exceeding three years, and be re-appointed; and
(b) at any time resign from membership of a pilotage board by sending his resignation in writing to the Authority.
