Section 419: Admissibility of documents in evidence
(1)
Where a document is declared to be admissible in evidence, under this Act, the document shall on its production from proper custody, be admissible in evidence in any court or before any person that has the proper authority to receive evidence, and unless admission is refused on any other ground, shall be evidence of the matters stated therein in pursuance of this Act or by any officer in pursuance of his duties as such officer.
(2)
A copy of any document referred to in this section or an extract from the document shall also be admissible in evidence if proved to be a copy or extract made from or compared with the original, or if it purports to be signed and certified as a true copy or extract by the officer to whose custody the original document was entrusted.
(3)
Any person who has authority to receive evidence under this Act has the same powers as a court to impound any document to which this section applies, which bears a false or counterfeit seal, stamp or signature attached to it, and the restrictions which apply for the admission of secondary evidence shall have effect accordingly.
