Section 366: Shipowner may contract removal
(1)
The shipowner may contract with any salvor or other person to perform the operation of removal on the owner's behalf.
(2)
When such operations have been commenced by the shipowner or private salvors, the Receiver of Wreck may intervene in such operations only to the extent necessary to ensure that the removal operations proceed as expeditiously as possible consistent with safety and environmental considerations.
(3)
Before such operations are commenced by the owner or private salvors, the Receiver of Wreck may lay down conditions for such operations only to the extent necessary in order to ensure that the removal operations proceed as expeditiously as possible consistent with safety and environmental considerations and may specify that he is to approve the methods applied in the operation.
