Section 294: Certificates issued by other governments

(1)
The Minister may request the Government of a country which is a party to the Load Line Convention to issue an International Load Line Certificate in respect of a Nigerian ship and a certificate so issued and containing a statement that it was so issued shall have effect for the purposes of this part as if it had been issued by the Minister.
(2)
Where a valid Load Line Certificate issued in pursuance of subsection (1) of this section is produced in respect of a ship, that ship shall, for the purposes of this part of this Act, be deemed to have been surveyed under the Load Line Regulations, and if the deck line and Load Line correspond with the marks specified in the certificate, the ship shall be deemed to be marked as required by this part.
