Section 20: Inquiry by the Chief Inspector or Inspector into cause of accident.
The prescribed officer shall hold an inquiry into the cause of every accident occurring in a quarry-(a) if upon the receipt of a report and after such investigation as he may think fit, it appears to him that there is reason to believe that the accident was due to any of the following causes, that is to say-
(i) any failure to comply with the provisions of this Act or of regulations made thereunder, or
(ii) the neglect of any lawful order given by him; or
(b) if it appears to him that the accident might have been prevented if proper precautions had been taken and observed in conducting the quarrying operation.
