Section 35: Submission of annual performance returns

(1)
The owner or publisher of a newspaper, magazine or journal, shall submit to the Council not later than sixty days after the end of each year, a return on the performance of the newspaper, magazine or journal, in such form as may be specified by the Council, from time to time, restating its mission statement and objectives, any change in its name or confirming if the newspaper, magazine or journal has abided by its mission statement and objectives and that the newspaper, magazine or journal has kept to the Code of Professional and Ethical Conduct in the discussion of issues of public interest.

Any owner or publisher of a newspaper, magazine or journal who fails to comply with the provisions of subsection (1) of this section is guilty of an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of N100,000.
