NATIONAL SENIOR SECONDARY EDUCATION COMMISSION ACT, 2023
Section 10: Appointment of the Executive Secretary
(1) There shall be for the Commission, an Executive Secretary, who shall be —
(a) appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Minister;
(b) the chief executive officer and accounting officer of the Commission; and
(c) responsible for the execution of the policy and the administration of the affairs of the Commission.
(2) A person shall not be qualified to be appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Commission unless the person possesses an academic qualification up to Ph.D. level in education and cognate experience of at least 20 years.
(3) The Executive Secretary shall hold office —
(a) for a term of five years in the first instance and may be re-appointed for a further term of five years and no more; and
(b) on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
(4) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (3), the Executive Secretary may —
(a) resign the appointment by notice in writing addressed to the President through the Board; or
(b) be removed by the President for —
(5) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (4), the Executive Secretary may be removed by the President, where the President is satisfied that it is not in the interest of the Commission or the public for the Executive Secretary to remain in office.
