Section 3: Tenure of office

Subject to the provisions of section 4 of this Act, a member of the Council, other than an ex-officio member, shall hold office-(a) for a period of five years in the first instance and may be re-appointed for a further period of five years and no more; and
(b) on such terms and conditions as may be specified in his letter of appointment.
