Section 27: Offences and penalties

(1) If any person-
(a) contravenes the provision of section 26 of this Act or any regulations made thereunder; or
(b) prevents a seed inspector from taking samples under this Act; or
(c) prevents a seed inspector from exercising any other power conferred on him by or under this Act;
(d) contravenes any other provisions of this Act,
shall be guilty of an offence.
(2) A person who is guilty of an offence under this that shall be liable on conviction-
(a) for the first offence, to a fine which may extend to N500; and
(b) in the event of such person having been previously convicted of an offence under this section, to imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or to a fine which may extend to N1 ,000, or to both such fine and imprisonment.
