Section 390: Duty to render assistance and salvors misconduct
(1)
The master of every vessel shall as far as he can do so without serious danger to his vessel and persons on the vessel, render assistance to any person in danger of being lost at sea.
(2)
Where the master of a ship does not comply with the provisions of subsection (1) of this section, the owner of the vessel shaII not be held IiabIe.
(3)
Any master of a vessel who fails to comply with the provisions of subsection (1) of this section commits an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine not less than five hundred thousand Naira or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or both.
