Section 204: Offences in respect of official log books

(1)
A master of a ship who fails to keep an official log book or make an entry in an official log book in the manner required by this Act and at the time and in the manner provided under this Act, commits an offence and except as is otherwise expressly provided in this Act, is on conviction liable to a fine not less than one hundred thousand Naira.
(2)
Any person who makes or procures to be made or assists in making an entry in an official log book in respect of any occurrence which took place before the arrival of the ship at its final Port of discharge, more than twenty-four hours after the arrival, commits an offence-and on conviction is liable to a fine not less than twenty-thousand Naira.
(3)
A person who wilfully destroys, mutilates or renders illegible any entry in an official log book or wilfully makes or procures to be made or assists in making a false or fraudulent entry in, or omission from the official log book, commits an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine not less than two hundred thousand Naira, or to imprisonment for a term not less than two years, or to both.
