Section 195: Notice of abstention from Ship or duty to be given by Seamen or Cadet

(1)
A seaman or cadet who in Nigeria intends to absent himself from his ship or his duty, may give notice of his intention, to the owner or to the master of the ship, not less than forty-eight hours before the time at which he ought to be on board his ship.
(2)
Where a seaman or cadet gives notice as provided in subsection (1) of this section, the court shall not exercise any of the powers conferred by paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section 197 of this Act.
