Section 84: Additional penalties to be imposed on insurers.

(1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, the Commission may in writing, suspend an insurer from writing a new insurance business for a period of not less than 12 months as it may think fit, if the insurer fails to pay any fine imposed for an offence under this Act-
(a) Within 30 days from the imposition thereof; or
(b) in the case of an appeal to a higher court where no further appeal is made, within 30 days from the confirmation of the judgment of the lower Court.
(2) If the insurer fails to pay the fine referred to under subsection (1) of this section within the period of suspension mentioned in that subsection, the Commission shall cancel the certificate of registration of the insurer.
