Section 36: Payments by Minister to be in naira
(1) Nothing in this Act or any other Act shall be construed as requiring the payment by or on behalf of the Minister in Nigeria of any sum otherwise than in naira or the payment by or on his behalf of any sum otherwise than in Nigeria.
(2) Where by this Act payment is required to be made by or on behalf of the Minister of any sum to any person and that sum is in a specified currency, the specified currency shall for all purposes be treated as if it had been offered for sale to an authorised dealer as prescribed by this Act, and the amount due shall be calculated and paid in naira to the person otherwise entitled to the specified currency.
