Section 18: pre-actions as amended by Section 4 of the University of Maiduguri (Amendment) Act, 2019.

1 Any person intending to commence an action against the University shall give one month notice to the University through the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar or by sending it by registered post, electronic mail or other legally recognised digital form of communication in Nigeria and the notice shall state the -
a cause of action;
b particulars of claim or the grievance sought to be redressed;
c name, particulars and official address of the intending plaintiff; and
d relief sought.

2 If no settlement is arrived at after the period of the notice referred to in subsection (1), either party may refer the matter for a decision by means of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
