Section 118: Environmental Obligations.

2007Section 118 of 165Federal Republic of Nigeria

Every holder of a mineral title under this Act shall as far as it is reasonably practicable-(a) minimize, manage and mitigate any environmental impact resultlng from activities carried out under this Act ; and
(b) rehabilitate and reclaim, where applicable, the land disturbed, excavated, explored, mined or covered with tailings arising from mining operations to its natural or predetermined state or to such state as may be specified in this Act, its regutations and other pertinent laws in force, and in accordance with established best practices.
