NIGERIAN CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES ACT
Section 35: Misapplication of the property of a society.
A person who-(a) obtains possession by false representation or imposition, of any property of a registered society; or
(b) having any property of a registered society in his possession, withholds or misapplies the property; or
(c)
wilfully applies any part of the property mentioned in paragraph (a) or (b) of this section, to purposes other than those expressed or directed in the rules of the society and authorised by this Act,
is, on the complaint of the society or of any member authorized in that behalf by the society or a committee thereof, or the Director, guilty of an offence and liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of not less than N1,000 or to imprisonment for a term of six months or to both such fine and imprisonment.
