Section 20: Service in the Academy to be pensionable.

1 For the police officer serving in the Academy, the existing law on pension for police officer shall apply.

2 Service in the Academy shall be approved service for purposes of the Pension Reform Act and accordingly employees of the Academy shall, in respect of their services, be entitled to pensions and other retirement benefits as are enjoyed by persons holding equivalent offices in the Public Service of the Federation. 3 Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1) nothing in this Act shall prevent the appointment of a person to any office on terms which preclude the grant of pension in respect of that office.

4 For the purpose of the application of the provisions of the Pension Reform Act, any powers exercisable by a Minister or other authority of the Government of the Federation, not being the power to make regulations, are vested in and shall be exercisable by the Council. [Act No. 4, 2014]
