Section 23: Penalty for destruction of document

Any person who willfully and without lawful authority destroys, defaces or mutilates any form, notice or other document containing information obtained in pursuance of the provisions of this Act or destroys, obliterates, alters or damages any sticker containing the number of the house pasted on the premises for the purposes of the census or other surveys, is guilty of an offence under this section and liable on conviction to a fine of ten thousand naira or to imprisonment for a term of three years or to both such fine and imprisonment.
