Section 37: Electroconvulsive therapy, psychosurgery and other irreversible treatment.

A person or institution shall not perform electroconvulsive therapy, psychosurgery and other irreversible treatments where it is not in the best interest of the person with a mental health condition except-(a) with a valid license;
(b) with the informed consent of the person with mental health condition; and
(c) in accordance with the prescribed clinical guidelines.
