Section 1: Establishment of the Institute. (as amended by section 2 of the National Institute for Legislative Studies (Amendment) Act, 2017)

(1) There is established the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (in this Act referred to as "the Institute").
(2) The Institute shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal.
(3) The Institute shall be located in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
