Section 51: Removal and destruction of archives prohibited

(1) No person shall remove archives from the National Archives without the written permission of the Director.
(2) No person shall wilfully damage or destroy archives in the National Archives.
(3) A person who contravenes the provisions of this section or of any provision in any section of this Act for which no special penalty is specified by this Act or any written law is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction, in the case of an individual, to a fine not exceeding N400 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding twelve months or to both such fine and imprisonment, and in the case of body corporate to a fine not exceeding N2,000.
