Section 277: Search for Missing Ships

(1)
Where a Nigerian ship or a near coastal trade ship or inland water ship is missing, and the owner has not caused reasonable search to be made for the ship, the Minister may require the owner to make such a search; and, if after being so required, the owner does not immediately cause reasonable search to be made for the ship, the owner commits an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine not less than two hundred thousand Naira.
(2)
For the purposes of this section, service of any notice on the agent of the owner shall be deemed to be service on the owner.
