Section 269: Collision to be entered in official log book

(1)
In every case of collision in which it is practicable so to do, the master of every ship shall, immediately after the occurrence, cause a statement of the collision and of the circumstances under which it occurred, to be entered in the official log book; and the entry shall be signed by the master and also by the mate or one of the crew.
(2)
Every master who fails to comply with this section commits an offence and on conviction shall be liable to a fine not less than one hundred thousand Naira.
