Section 246: Miscellaneous privileges of ships holding Convention Certificates

Where an Accepted Safety Convention Certificate is produced in respect of a Safety Convention ship which is not a Nigerian ship, and the certificate shows that the ship:
(a)
is properly with the lights, shapes and means of making signals required by the collision rules; or
(b)
complies with the requirements of the Safety Convention as to lifesaving and fire extinguishing appliances or if exempted from some of those requirements the ship complies with the rest; or
(c)
that the ship complies with or is exempted from the requirements of the Safety Convention relating to radio communications, or if exempted from some of those requirements, the ship complies with the rest, the ship shall, to the extent to which the certificate is applicable, be exempted from inspection for the purposes of enforcing the collision rules or from the provisions of the rules for lifesaving appliances or of the radio as the case may be.
