Section 180: Weights and measures on board

2007Section 180 of 445Federal Republic of Nigeria

(1)
The master of a Nigerian ship shall keep on board the ship, proper weights and measures for determining the board quantities of the different provisions and articles served out, and ensure that the weights and measures are used at the time of serving out the provisions and article, in the presence of a witness, whenever any dispute arises in respect of the quantities.
(2)
The master of a Nigerian ship who fails, without reasonable cause, to comply with the provisions of this section, commits an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine not less than ten thousand Naira.
