Section 72: Attempt to commit an offence.

(1)
Any person who attempts to commit any offence under this Act or any other relevant law is liable on conviction to a penalty which is not less than half of the penalty provided for the offence under this Act or any other relevant law.
(2) Where a person is charged with any of the offences under this Act or any other law and the evidence establishes an attempt to commit that offence, he may be convicted of having attempted to commit the offence and is liable on conviction to the penalty provided for in sub-section (1) of this Section.
(3)
Where a person is clrarged with an attempt to commit an offence under this Act or any other relevant law, but the evidence establishes the commissioner of the full offence, the offender shall not be entitled to acquittal, but shall be convicted for the commission of the offence and is liable to the penalty provided for the offence under this Act.
