Section 8: Deferment of execution of sentence of death on prisoner of war

Where a prisoner of war has been sentenced to death by any court in Nigeria, the sentence shall not be carried out until at least six months after the date on which the protecting power receives a detailed communication containing-(a) the precise wording of the finding and sentence; and
(b) a summarised report of any preliminary investigation and of the trial emphasising in particular the elements of the prosecution and the defence.
