Section 2: Pre-Acton Notice.

The general objects of the University are to-
a provide courses of instruction, training and research in applied sciences and produce technicians and such skilled personnel required for related industries;
b act as agents and catalyst through post-graduate training, research and innovation for the effective and economic utilisation, exploitation and conservation of the country's natural, economic and human resources;
c offer to the general public as a form of public service, the results of training and research and to foster the practical applications of those results;
d encourage the advancement of learning and to hold out to all persons without distinction of race, creed, sex or political conviction, the opportunity of acquiring a higher education in applied sciences;
e identify the technological problems and needs of the society and to find solutions to them within the context of overall national development;
f provide and promote sound basic scientific training as a foundation for the development of technology and applied sciences, taking into account indigenous culture and the need to enhance national unity;
g sponsor educational programmes pertaining to applied sciences. processing technologies, production techniques. and related issues;
h disseminate to the public and industries any result of the research or studies in developments pertaining to any branch of applied sciences;
i collaborate with other similar institutions within and outside Nigeria for the realisation of its mandate;
j conduct post-graduate research leading to the award of diplomas, first degrees, and higher degrees in various aspects of applied sciences;
k establish appropriate relationship with other national and international institutions involved in training, research and development of studies in the areas of applied sciences generally; and
l conduct and participate in conferences, symposia, seminars, lectures, training courses and similar study arrangements that may enhance the activities of the University.
