Section 16: Pre-action, notice or obstruction and assault of a member of the Corps

(1) No suit shall be commenced against the Commission on or before the expiration of a period of one month after written notice of intention to commence the suit shall have been served upon the Commission or the Corps by the intending plaintiff or his agent, and the notice shall clearly and explicitly state-
(a) the cause of action;
(b) the particulars of the claim;
(c) the name and place of abode of the intending plaintiff; and
(d) the relief which he claims.
(2) A person who obstructs a member of the Corps in the performance of his duties shall be liable on conviction to a fine of two thousand naira or to imprisonment for six months or to both such fine and imprisonment.
(3) A person who assaults a member of the Corps in the performance of his duties shall be liable on conviction to a fine of ten thousand naira or to imprisonment for six months or to both such fine and imprisonment.
