Section 6: Resignation from the Commission

2018Section 6 of 168Federal Republic of Nigeria

(1) Commissioners shall be persons of recognised standing, qualification (minimum o fa University Degree) and not less than l5 years
experience in one or more of the following fields-
(a) Finance or Accounting ;
(b) Law ;
(c) Consumer Affairs ;
(d) Competition or anti-trust matters ;
(e) Engineering or Information Technology ;
(f) Economics ;
(g) Public Administration, social science or humanities.
(2) A person shall not be appointed or remain in office as a Commissioner if he-
(a) is not a Nigerian citizen ;
(b) is not ordinarily resident in Nigeria ;
(c) is incapacitated by any physical illness ;
(d) has been certified to be of unsound mind ;
(e) is an undischarged bankrupt ;
(f) has been convicted in Nigeria or elsewhere ofva criminal offence, being a misdemeanor or felony ;
(g) has at any time been removed from an office of trust on account of misconduct ; or
(h) fails to comply with the reporting obligations regarding personal and family assets as required by the Commission's Code of Conduct.
