Section 17: Procedure for Staff Discipline

(1) Where it is alleged that a member of staff is guilty of misconduct or should for any other reason be disciplined, the Vice-Chancellor or Senate shall set up an Investigation Panel to determine whether or not a prima facie case has been established against the staff.
(2) The Investigation Panel shall be composed to ensure that the membership include the President or Chairman of the union to which the staff being investigated belongs.
(3) There shall be a Staff Disciplinary Committee which shall be composed by the Vice-Chancellor.
(4) The Staff Disciplinary Committee shall consider the report of the Investigating Panel.
(5) The report and recommendation of the Staff Disciplinary Committee shall be forwarded to the Council for consideration and decision.
